Behavioural, psychological and neuropsychiatric symptoms can significantly affect people with dementia, their families and care providers. This session examines depression, anxiety, agitation, aggression, apathy, psychosis, sleep disturbances, wandering, personality changes and related symptoms. It supports discussion of assessment, underlying causes, risk factors and compassionate approaches to prevention and management across home, hospital and long-term care environments.
Abstract Scope and Participation
Submissions may include clinical research, behavioural assessment, psychosocial interventions, medication management, caregiver approaches, environmental strategies, ethical considerations and complex case studies. Psychiatrists, neurologists, psychologists, geriatricians, nurses, social workers, therapists, care-home professionals, researchers and caregivers are invited to present evidence and experiences related to neuropsychiatric and behavioural aspects of dementia.
