Natural products (NPs) have played an important role in medication development, particularly in the treatment of cancer and infectious disorders, but also in other therapeutic areas such as neurodegenerative disease. In comparison to traditional synthetic compounds, NPs have unique properties that provide both benefits and problems to the drug discovery process.
