Alzheimers Types

Alzheimer's disease manifests primarily in two forms: early-onset and late-onset. Early-onset Alzheimer's, though rare, typically appears before age 65, with symptoms often noticeable in one's 40s or 50s. This form can be linked to genetic mutations, such as those in the APP, PSEN1, or PSEN2 genes. In contrast, late-onset Alzheimer's is more common and typically occurs after 65, often with no clear genetic cause but possibly influenced by a combination of genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors. Both types share similar symptoms: progressive memory loss, cognitive decline, confusion, and behavioral changes. Understanding these distinctions is crucial for early diagnosis and targeted treatment approaches, aiming to alleviate symptoms and potentially slow the disease's progression.
