Prodrome

Alzheimer's Disease, the leading cause of dementia, unfolds as a progressive neurological condition marked by memory loss, cognitive decline, and behavioral shifts. It stems from the formation of plaques and tangles in the brain, disrupting nerve cell communication and leading to their eventual demise. Initially manifesting as mild memory lapses and confusion (the prodromal phase), the disease advances, impairing everyday functions and diminishing awareness of surroundings. Early detection through cognitive testing and biomarker analysis is crucial for managing symptoms and potentially slowing progression. While treatments can provide temporary relief, there is currently no cure for Alzheimer's. Ongoing research strives to deepen our understanding of its origins, develop more effective therapies, and ultimately find a cure for this debilitating condition.
